If you know me, you know I love living in Nevada County. I moved to Lake of the Pines in South Nevada County when I was in first grade from San Jose. I was always an animal lover, but moving from San Jose allowed me to upgrade my pets from the rolly pollies that lived in our condo carport to a real cat and dog. When I was 10, we moved from LOP to Newcastle on some property, which allowed me to expand my animal collection to a pony and some 4H sheep. I realized I was a country girl through and through.
Every time I head down to the bay area and get stuck in that traffic, I think to myself that the city is a fun place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there. I married a man who is from Boonville, let me just say it's more in the country than Grass Valley. I told him I need a place to live where I could keep my two horses and we found a wonderful home on 5 acres to raise our boys and add to our animal menagerie.
The other morning my 10 year old son came running into the house to say he had caught a raccoon in the live trap he had set in our middle pasture. He was so excited. My husband, dressed to leave for work was not so excited. He followed Jon down to the trap and lets just say neither my husband, Eric. or the raccoon were happy campers. With a little bit of finagling, Eric was able to get the raccoon to run out of the trap and there was never a happier raccoon to be running across our pasture. After a stern lecturing about setting the live trap with out telling anyone, and messing with wild life who has done nothing wrong to us, my 10 year old nodded and said "yes but wasn't it cool to see him close up?" I told Eric let's just be grateful it wasn't as skunk. The moral of the story is, I feel so blessed to be living some where my boys can ride dirt bikes, climb trees, catch polywogs in the creek and watch them turn into frogs, and yes even catch a raccoon, with out ever leaving our property. I love finding my clients the perfect home in the perfect location that fits all their needs and lets them experience the things they want from lifestyle. That's what's great about Nevada County, it has something for everyone!
